Default How many colors of red are there?

At least for the 993? I thought Guards Red was the only one, excluding of course Arena Red.

Anyone heard of this Firemist Red? Is this a made up name or was it offered in this color? Looks Guards Red to me.

I see that the dealer claims it's metallic, while Guard's Red is not. Interesting to know what the color ID on the car says. Maybe some sort of re-spray or some metallic overspray over the Guards?? Or, maybe it's just an oversight by the dealer.

MB has a firemist red color. I considered that color when I was infatuated with the SL55.

You may have hit on it. I bet this dealer also sells MB's and just called Guards Red as Firemist Red.

I just remembered I have a Red Book (no pun intended). It doesn't list the Firemist Red as an option for Porsche for the 993 model. But it does say "Solid or Metallic Colors to Sample". Maybe this is the case.

It lists Speed Yellow, Riviera Blue, Guards Red, Amaranth Violet, Black, and Grand Prix White as standard colors and Slate Gray Metallic, Polar Silver Metallic, Black Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Iris Blue Metallic, and Aventura Green Metallic as special order colors for the 1994-1998 cars. Interestingly, I don't see the Vesuvius color either, maybe it's the Black Metallic (anyone know)or perhaps it was a paint to sample color as well.

I know it's hard to tell from the photo on the link, but I can't tell the difference between the Firemist Red and mine which is Guards Red.

Vesuvius is a purplish-grey color (stunning color in my book) and metallic black is a black with tiny bronze specks in it.

Here are pics of Yuji's Vesuvius beauty and my Metallic Black RUF. Taken at the same time during our Taco Temple meet last fall. The colors should be true.

Enjoy.

My car looks like Guards Red, but my owner's manual says it's Imperial Red.

Where in the owners manual does it dictate the color of our cars?

Sorry, it's on a factory sticker that is either on the cover or just inside the cover, at least w/ my car. It has the VIN as well, so I know it's the right one (I'm not the first owner).
