BLACKHORSE-Rear light refresh
It is amazing how the 3M Trizact system pays for itself. I sanded with 3000 grit wet using a DA sander and buffed to a high gloss. These things look new
Pic 1 - Tail lights as they were removed from the car

Pic 3 - The lights sanded out
Pic 4 - The finshed product
The front marking lamps are next. I still can't decide if I am going with the TT look or not.

Wow! That looks awesome. Never would have thought of doing that!
EDIT: It may be cheesy, but your Renn name should have been The SandMan or something! I have never met anyone who goes at a car with as much sand paper as yourself! Results speak for themselves though!
Just a question, because the only time ive really worked with sandpaper is when I was scalloping a guitar neck. At 1000 grit and higher, I was changing paper very often. Are you going through a lot as well, or does clear coat and plastics, etc... take less toll on the grit?

thx for the post arena993... did my lens cover soon after my purchase a while back. I did mine w/ griot's machine polishes & sim. results. even my rear cab window was cleared by hand polishing.
key (i found) was not being too timid... when i finally got over the fear of burning through i was fine... kinda like paint sanding. the right equipment is key. & it looks like you have all of that!
can't wait to see the finished product as i have a 3xblk cab too.
why not try & keep this one looking narrow & nada turbo look... if you skirt & tail it, why not go "rs" on it? just my less than 2¢.
btw: were those 19's you put on ol'yeller? how did they work out/handle etc.

I haven't decided what to do yet. May keep it stock may dress it out. Still on the fence. The car is at my mechanics right now and the motor and tranny are being pulled because of a rear main leak. I may do a clutch if i have to. I am in the process of cleaning all the parts right now. I may do an RS look. Actually I never thought of that. I have all the TT suff now, but like I said earlier I may opt to do a bone stock version. Time and money will tell.

Another easy method is to use Meguier's ScratchX. It doesn't scratch plastic, but does remove the haze/residue buildup. Leaves them nice and bright.

Another easy method is to use Meguier's ScratchX. It doesn't scratch plastic, but does remove the haze/residue buildup. Leaves them nice and bright

Does this stuff work on cleaning up the plastic window on cabs? If not, does anyone know the best way to make it as close to "new" as possible? Mine is not yellow or scratched too much, but I think it could be enhanced.

This can't be done to the headlights. The reason is they are glass not plastic. the best soultion to a new headlight look is to replace the lenses. I got mine from Gert at www.carnewal.com Also check out the DIY if you are replacing lenses on cleaning the inside of the headlamp. Belive me I have done it and with the new lenses it makes the entire assembly look new!!! The DIY is at

Actually, I used ScratchX on the headlights and it did improve them. Obviously, it doesn't remove pitting or scratches - just that dull residue that builds up over time. Cleaning the inside makes the most notable difference, IMO.
