Default Old topic. Search not working. Options for 17" front tire size

I need to order some replacement tires today and the search is down. ( for me anyway). I have the 17" twist wheels and TR calls for 205/50-17 fronts and 255/40-17 rears.

I seem to recall that folks were running a larger front tire. I do NOT want to have to worry about scraping, rolling fenders, etc. The car has the Bilstein HD shocks with Euro M030 springs so it hasn't been lowered a great deal.

Can I also run a 215/45 or 225/45 up front without interference. Thanks.

Hi Keith,

For 17 fronts, use a 225/45. No issues at stock height or slammed ...you will be fine.

Running 225/45 on my fronts. To Ed's advice last summer on the Kumho MX's and have no regrets and no issues whatsoever. Good tires.

I have run 225s on 17s on several 993s of varying ride heights with no issues. You will like the handling improvement.

Have run 225/45X17 in front on stock wheels for umpteen years w/ no problems. 255/40 in back has occassionally been a problem (rubbing on outer fender lip).

Wow. Ray, what's your ride height? below RS? Or when do they rub?

Yes, what is the height? 255/40X17 is the stock size with stock wheels.
