New tires for C4 Cab NB with RS wheels
#18
Freddy, don't forget only some '95 cabs are approved for 18s, and then only when fitted with the steering rack brace. There is a TSB on this with a list of VINs that do not (IIRC) have the appropriate body strengthening. It has been posted here previously ...

There goes my conclusion:
The 17" rear wheels have 0.16% smaller perimeter than the front wheels
Then the 2nd best option would be the 295/30, third one 265/35.
275/35 is almost 2% different from the front ones and could cause problems with the 4 wheel drive, not to mention that the car will become slower on acceleration.
285/30 gives a bad result as well... almost 1.5%...
My question: Is there anyone using 295/30 on 10" wheels and narrow body shape?
tire size perimeter height f x rear
255/40ZR17 1,997.42 102.00 -0.16% - stock size
265/35ZR18 2,019.10 92.75 0.86% - suggested for NB
275/35ZR18 2,041.09 96.25 1.96% - alternative
285/30ZR18 1,973.55 85.50 -1.41% - used on WB
295/30ZR18 1,992.40 88.50 -0.47% - used on 997

Freddy, I'll try to search on here for the actual number, I know I've seen it here before. Also Tire Rack has all the SPEC sheets with the overall tire diameter and revs per mile listed.

Here is probably your best answer for the difference in diameter for a C4: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...68&postcount=8
Here is some more reading on the issue:https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...diameter+tires

I just picked up a set on MY 02 8x18 and 10x18. They have 285/30/18 S-02As on the rears, and I am about to test fit these on my NB car. I tires are worn however, and need replacing. I was looking at the Kumho 295/30 since I was happy with the Kumhos on my 17s. The 295s have the same weight and correct diameter, but do have a slightly larger section width.... Hmm....

295 30 18 on nb
freddy
the original rear tires on my gt3 wheels were 295 30 18.
they worked fine on my nb c4 993 until i lowered it.
then came the rubbing, then i rolled the fender lips, then came the alignment but still rubbed.
off came the 295 and on went the 285 with no problems.
i would recommend 285 30 18 rear and 225 40 18 front.
these are the stock sizes on the 993 C4S.
should work well for C4 at stock ride height or lowered, without rolling the fender lips.
unfortunately the only michelin you can buy in 285 30 18 is the pilot sport N1 which i believe is one notch under the PS2 but still as good or better then any other maker.
the N1 was an oem tire on porsche for many years.
this is what i use and recommend for your c4.
i just wish i would have tried the 285 before i went to the trouble of rolling the lips.
enjoy your beautiful cars!
