Hi,
this is the followup on my thread of my grinding spoiler. A friend of mine, blessed with very good mechanical and engineering skills, pinpointed the cause of the grinding noise, at least thats what he thinks about it .
It is not the motor and not the transmission either. When I lower manually, the spoiler shudders very much and this causes the grinding, "shuddering noise".
He actually demonstraded it by simply holding (stabilizing) the spoiler with 2 fingers when it lowers and indeed the noise goes away instantly.
He had a quick look at the scheme (see link lower) and thinks that number 2, 17 and maybe 27 are worn out, creating a kind of "free play" ( sorry do not know the correct word in english) of the spoiler.
Could someone help me out and give me the partnumbers of these parts please ?
What is your idea on this opinion ? I am going to take the spoiler off and have a look myself.
Thanks

Interesting thought, and one that makes sense. If you can, indeed, reduce the noise by simply "holding" the spoiler as it retracts/rises, then perhaps the vibration from the various parts' "slop" is a major contributor to the noise. Will you be replacing these bushings (or what looks to be bushings)? Let us know the results!

i have a nicely painted metallic black fg turbo tail that would not only give you a killer two tone look that the rest of us would die for, but you wouldn't have to spend any more time fixing the slop!

wsp,
The part numbers are:
(#2) 964.512.732.00 Bushing
(#17) 964.512.711.00 Bushing
(#27) 964.512.711.00 Bushing
If you like, I can copy the actual Porsche parts diagram for the spoiler assembly and email it to you.
