from the comments and info i have been gathering, the finish is a matte paint with a satin clear applied. not sure of the wax/upkeep question, but i would assume waxing would cause the finish to become shiny. also, scratching is going to be a problem...any trying to buff out a scratch will also make it shine. not what i want.
i'm also not sure of price yet, still talking with a couple different painters but no one i've found has experience applying this particular finish.
i'll try to post the pics soon.

Also, wasn't RUF's "NATO" 930 painted in a non-shiny finish? No images on google...
I'm not entirely sure since I would have to see it in person, but I think a satin or flat finish in black would be bad-***. Good luck with resale, though.

Man... you're painting the car. What an opportunity! But with all the options out there, flat or satin is kinda fringe. Still, its your car. Does the look match your personality?

I love the look--go for it.
couple yrs ago, there was an article in Excellence about a 930 in primer black--looked great.
i believe there was a thread about this on the Rennlist 930 board, but i couldn't find it now.
