Default What Air Conditioning Oil to use? PAG?

The manual says that the 993 uses an ND8 oil. I assume that ND stands for Nippon Denso. My LAPS, including NAPA, does not have a cross-reference to ND8 oil. My choices at store are Ester and PAG. PAG seems more popular and is available as PAG50, PAG100 and PAG150. What is the safest to use if no one has the cross reference? The parts counter is no help - seems like an information black hole in the auto AC business
Thanks,TJ

It is my understanding that ND8 oil is the same as the oil you can purchase form an MB dealer that says Denso and Q 1 13 0001 on the 250cc can, it also says MBNA PAG oil. I think it's PAG 46 oil, like what you can get from FJC. FJC's PAG 46 is less expensive and is probably the same thing with the only difference being the additives each manufactorer uses.

I wanted to use the oil recommended by Denso since I bought a Denso remanufactured compressor from them and did not want any discussion with them should I have a warranty claim about me using an oil that was not recommended specifically by them.

Thanks for the info - I will probably go with the PAG 50 or something. I assume that the numbers have to do with viscosity or something...

I found Castrol PAG46 synthetic at Pepboys tonight. 8 oz was around $9. I put some in the compressor - well see how she runs!
