a few weeks ago i posted that my rear window exploded...i got my insurance company to pay for it (i just pay the deductible)...i contacted a shop and they placed an order with a porsche dealer for the window...that was 3 weeks ago...porsche is all messed up...first they said that the window was stuck in customs, then they said that after it cleared customs it got lost in transit...now, it turns out they never ordered it, they "thought" they had one in inventory but they really didn't...now they are ordering one from germany...so, it'll be another week+ before the window arrives. i really dont understand how it takes a company 3 weeks to figure out that they dont have something in stock..and then why make up things like stuck in customs or lost in transit...
from whom have you been getting your information? i only ask because it seems there are 3 links in this chain: your shop, a dealership, and porsche. if you are only getting your info from one source you never how much of the truth you are being told.
More than likely your bodyshop tried to buy aftermarket glass and found out (3 weeks later) that they couldn't. Any Porsche dealership in the country can instantly check inventory levels at any other dealership, the 2 warehouses (Ontario, CA & Atlanta, GA) and at the factory in Germany. Someone is BS'ing you.
You can contact the manager of the parts dept at any Porsche dealer and ask him to check:
1) how many if any rear windows are in the USA, and if so at which dealers are they located at.
2) if any windows have been ordered / sent out of Germany.
Porsche has a program, that if a part is needed extra fast here in the USA (from Germany), the part can be "Rushed" for 10% more of the price. ( If I remember correctly, the order must be at least $200)
the shop told me they couldn't get an aftermarket version so they were going to order from porsche...which i believe they did since they took my VIN number to make sure they got the correct part...after that, everything is all jumbled...stuck in customs..lost by the shipping carrier...status now is that the porsche dealer ordered one (or another one) and should arrive later this week...
