apples and oranges... either she will understand or not, but you should tell her that the boxster is a very mass produced, fun, but common car, while a late model air cooled porsche in good condition is destined to become a classic...
no offense to boxster owners, i have driven them and they are great fun for what they are

This car has had one very high quality respray to restore the fading tendency of the Polar Silver because of the soft water based paint that Porsche used during the mid to late 90's
I would give it a long hard look and have a thorough PPI performed before commiting. Looks great in the photos though.

They are two different cars, apple to oranges. If she loves the Boxster she may not love the 993. Bull is right, you need both to save your marriage. A small price to pay.

Its not like I dont already have a Porsche in the garage. I really enjoy the Boxster.
But Damn, I want that 993!

A couple of suggestions... from experience...
1. Tell her that the 993 has much better resale value than a Boxster. Most women go for the financial argument.
2. If she likes the Boxster, DO NOT test drive the 993 with her before buying. I made that mistake a few years ago, and my wife thought that the 993 interior wad out dated and smelled like a Bettle.
3. Safety wise, the coupe IS safer than a cab. But the Boxster have side air bags...
4. Tell her that 911 is the REAL Porsche and she will get a lot more compliments and stares on the street. Women sometimes go for that.
Finally, if it is your car and you are the one who drive it, then sometimes it makes sense to pull the trigger first and then apologize later. I have done that a couple of times... It's your car, what can she say? It's not like you can say no if she wants to buy a dress that she really likes. Right?
Good luck!

Try compromise... pass on a repainted & "never been raced" coupe (but has race hardware) with temporary tags (despite being a "personal car"), and push for a cabrio or targa instead. Best of both worlds - still open air, with more power!

Nobody resprays a car because of "fading," particularly on a light color. That can't possibly be the true reason. That makes the seller a dishonest person. Never, ever buy a used car from a dishonest person. Wait for a good car from an honest seller. In the mean time, work things out with your wife. You don't need the pressure of "I gotta make a decision before the auction ends."

I agree, I would stay away from this car. I didn't see the "faded paint" excuse before, but that's ridiculous. Unless this car was parked on Mars for the past 10 years, I don't think there's any way the silver paint faded from being left outside.

Well, my wife made it clear that she likes the boxster much better, and does not want this car. But , she knows I do , so she told me to go for it. So I will be headed to Tuscon with a check in hand.
If the car checks out alright , I am going to have a long FUN ride back to Atlanta.

Did you get a PPI? May be hire someone to do a paint analysis to see if there were any major patching work done before the repainting?
Good luck! And good to hear that you have a great SO!
