Default heat

I have a 96 c2 which i took out for a run on the weekend. The first thing that i noticed was that the heat was only coming out of the vents on the left side, there was cool air coming out of the right side with the heat fully on.Does anyone what the problem is? and is it a easy fix?

Same thing happened to me & turned out to be the electric motor for the heater valve flap. There's one on each side in the footwells. If so, it's an easy DIY and about $100. Try a search for HVAC or heater flap and you should find the threads.

That's intersting, no heat just cold air...

Something is not right, as the default position of the valve is always open, which means that somehow if the servo valve fails there is always heat coming out. I guess that's the German logic is that you can't die from heat, but can freeze to death. So basically the valve is constantly open until you turn on your car and when the HVAC system sense that you don't want any heat it closes the valve each time you start the car. Same as when you shut the car off the valve opens automatically.

My car is doing the exact same thing, but I on purposely closed the valve manually and disconnected the power to the valve as the electrical circuit of my valve is broken and will always send hot air to the interior of the car when the engine is running.

There is another default design of the air cooled 911, that it is always blowing hot air from the engine bay by the engine fan regardless if you want it or not.

I am willing to bet that when you open up the kick panel you will probably find the connector disconnected and the valve closed manually. Which means that it is a bad valve and the previous owner just disconnected it to prevent heat from coming in all the time and didn't bother fixing it.

Again, this is another great work of the German electronics. Their PCB and soldering skills really sucks! Good thing they are good with machine work....

The problem and solution are exactly the same as THIS only the servos are different.
