Supercup noise reduction for Track Days/DE
I have a pair of Supercups fitted to my '95 993 C2. I really like the sound they produce but unfortunatley they are too loud for the majority of track days here in the UK. When last measured, they were putting out 109.7dBA at 5200RPM at a 45 degree angle 1 metre from the exhaust. Needless to say the scrutineer wasn't impressed . I need to get the noise down to below 105dBA and wondered whether anyone had any suggestions apart from changing the mufflers (which at the moment I'd consider a last resort - I only do a couple of track days a year). A friend of mine suggested bolting on a couple of Supertrapp disc stacks. Does anyone have any experience of these? From what I've read on this forum they don't seem to be too popular.
As usual. any help greatly appreciated

I don't think you can use those CC Inserts if you have the newest generation supercups that lack the removable baffles. If you have the current generation, then installing the supplied turn-down cobra fangs should help.

The Supercups are only about 18 months old - are there any obvious signs as to whether the baffles are removable? As far as I can remember everything appeared welded with no obvious way of dismantling them. Took a look at the CC inserts site (thanks) and my only question would be how are the inserts retained in the pipe? Do you have any real world data as to how much of a noise reduction the inserts actually make (the bar graphs aren't too informative and 3000RPM is just ticking over)?

Just for closure I bolted up the Fabspeed 'cobra-fangs' that come with the silencers and took the car to the track where it was originally measured. This time they 'only' measured 103.7dB (at 4500RPM) which is good enough for the two upcoming 'noisy' days this year. Cabin noise is reduced somewhat too

Biovox,
The world is truly a small place, I live in cheltenham as well and have had the same problem (with full cargraphic system) I solved it by buying auxilliary mufflers from Merlin at Castle Combe and then getting Macweld in Glos to fabricate some connectors which act like the muffler tips, fitting the cans is then just like swapping your tips over (5min job at the circuit if the car fails noise test) it brings my car down from well over 100db to about 95db at the dreaded Castle Combe noise test which is the most demanding I have seen in the UK.
PM me and I can give you full details and prices - the fabrication guy at Macweld is awesome, he has built his own track day car, frame and all a true motorsport fanatic.

Do you guys feel a power decrease when using the CC inserts?
On the highway when I punch it using the CCs I feel alot more back pressure. (my car is supercharged)
thanks

Don't know about CC's but the auxiliary silencers look seriously wicked, the car looks like it has great big flame arresters and / or rocket boosters, serious head turning stuff

Not to hijack this thread but what size CC inserts would I need for Gen 1 supercups. How deep do they go as my Supercups were modified taking out some of the horizontal run. I believe I have 8" orso of depth to work with. Wife & neighbors would like it if I can take the edge off the exhaust note.

I think I used the 3.5" 3 flange version and they are around 6-8 inches long. I can check when I get home tonight if no one else chimes in.
