Default OT, A1GP at Laguna Seca, photos

Just finished working the A1GP at Laguna, my area is pre and post race ceremonies, champagne, trophies etc. I get to work very closely with the race organizations and the drivers so it's fun, most of the time. This weekend was crazy, snow, rain, new series etc.
The idea behind A1 was to create a series that would a) fill in the void between F1's season end and start, b) put the focus on countries more than drivers, i.e. a series that pits country vs. country aka the olympics of motorsport, c) level the field by having Lola build the chassis and Zytek build V8 motors producing roughly 520hp, all dyno tested within a couple of h.p.
It does produce great racing. Here's some photos of the weekend taken by
Michael Troutman, one of our track photographers: Herta, Briscoe and Graham Rahal are in the photos, some rain and my department, cleaning up the mess after the podium ceremony.
I don't know what will happen to the series next year, a lot of teams have some serious money invested in this series so they want it to continue. We'll see. They have some issue to work out. I hope they can make it.
Results:
1 Mexico Salvador Duran 1.00.52.974
2 Germany Timo Scheider 1.00.55.016 +2.042
3 Great Robbier Kerr 1.00.56.091 +3.117

Dennis, fantastic photos. What are you shooting with? Really nice eye for movement.
Salvadore Duarte spent some time with Skip Barber at Laguna a while back ,everyone pegged him for a great things. I think he has a great future, he really looked fast yesterday, sometimes in some very nasty conditions.
Brian Herta just had a very bad weekend. Too bad as everyone thought he had a chance.
Alex Yoong is a very talented driver as well, plus being a good guy. Fun to talk to and he really likes Laguna.

One more story, on the grid, Max Papis was completely strapped in his car, ready to go, when he saw Wayne Rainey wheeling himself in his wheelchair down the grid. He unbuckled everything and jumped out of the car to greet Wayne, a very nice touch from a good guy. Wayne has a lot of fans at Laguna, nice to see drivers are included in that group.

Thanks. I'm using a Nikon D70 w/ a 70-300 f4-5.6 lens for those shots.

I thought Duarte and Nicolas Lapierre (the French driver) were the most impressive young guys over the weekend. Just watching from trackside it looked like those two and Jos Verstappen were just floating their cars into the turns.
