Default Managed to get her to 30...

...miles per gallon that is. I was on a 100 mile journey and had reset the OBC once I'd fuelled up. As the mileage started increasing I found myself being so careful on the motorway (freeway) to see how high I could get it. It was actually quite relaxing sticking to between 70 and 80 mph and not trying to get past everyone. I've had 26-27mpg before, but never 30. As soon as she hit the 30 mpg I saw a service stop, so pulled in to take a picture (sorry for the quality but I only had my phone camera).

Who says Porsches are thirsty?

On this side of the pond we will never get close because you are cheating. Imperial gallons for you.

at 70/80 mph, in what gear were you driving to get that? usually at that speed i am in 5th. i don't shift into 6th gear anymore because i felt that at less than 85 mph i was lugging the engine in 6th.

Am i in the minority with mpg of 14-17? Seems to me a full tank only gets me 280 miles at most. Is this something to be concerned with? I don't have any remapped dme or anything other than a lead foot.

I get 19-21 mpg on average (depends on whether I'm just commuting or going on a more "spirited"drive).
On a 4-6 hour trip (e.g., Cleveland to DC), I'll average 26 mpg (that's at ~75 mph)

Don't usually have long trips, longest may be 1/2 hour. Guess I will pay attention more to mileage. If car has good oil consumption rate, no leaks and motor is strong, idles at right point and is smooth, anything other than shorter trips vs longer ones that could be contributing to mileage (and yes I know I am the main culprit) - car is at 25k mileage so will get 30k service soon. Any thought would be appreciated.

Well sure you are going to get poor fuel results when you keep the throttle to the floor all the time!

I've found that to avoid any issue with cramping, you just extend your right foot downward from the ankle - that's why the 993 is the only car for me..

I don't understand the big deal on MPG and gas prices. It doesn't affect me at all...I always pump $25 worth of gas!

Those miles where you get the good gas mileage are miles you never get back....

I have intentionally never calculated my MPG, nor do I have an OBC. So, I tell my wife that the P-car is the most fuel efficient of our fleet.
