Does anyone have the part number for the SAI valve? I can't seem to find it via a search here, on Robin's DIY site, or on Pelican.

Viper Bob, maybe you can help me answer this question. This is mainly for my 996 as I have the SAI issue which is setting off the CEL.

Sorry I have not been paying attention for the past couple of years.

What exactly sets of the CEL light when a SAI is bad?

Just guessing here, but I imagine when the SAI system is activated (during a cold start), the computer measures the values coming from the O2 sensors and, if too high, i.e., a rich condition, it's assumed the SAI system has failed.

Sound good???

P.S. - Did you get your check valve off???

planeguy: Have you considered adding your great write and pics to the p-car DIY site?

Your pics come in VEY handy when one must remove or replace the air box for the first time. Great job!

"What exactly sets of the CEL light when a SAI is bad?"

The front O2 sensors not reaching a low enough voltage when the air pump is run
during a cold start.

Check here ( www.systemsc.com/pictures.htm ) for more info.
