Brake Question
Time for new rotors on the rear on my NB 993 - I pulled the wheels to check the part numbers, and was surprised to find the PO installed turbo/4S rotors and calipers... Fronts are the regular, non-big red calipers.
Since this is my first P-car, I'm not sure what sort of effect this is having on the behavior under braking. It's always felt a little strange, but my previous cars were toyota pickups, so...
Any expert opinions re what the larger brakes are doing to the handling/behavior?
As far as 'fixing' this, the choices are
1) replace the rotors (and pads, of course) (cheapest option)
2) replace the rear calipers/rotors w/ the stock sizes (slightly more expensive, but I suppose I can sell the calipers to offset it a bit)
3) put big reds on the front (big red calipers+rotors = most expensive - I installed new front rotors about 3k ago so I'll need to see if I can unload them on ebay or rennlist, and I'll still need to replace the rear rotors)
Of course I'd prefer #3, but taxes and a potential RIF are a concern.
Your thoughts would be appreciated

I assume the part numbers are telling your they are "Big Reds" ? Just asking because some people just like painting the brake calipers to LOOK like Big Reds..
If they really are Big Reds, I can tell you my C4S owners manual says that the 4S and Turbo cars use an additional brake pressure assist unit. This unit has a special idiot light that lights up upon start-up until the pressure reaches a certain level. The manual says that reduced braking ability will occur if this unit is defective.
Other, more knowledgable Rennlisters can probably offer more information and perhaps some useful advice. I've never heard of mixing brakes like this before !

Thanks for the replies - actually the PO painted all of the calipers red, but since the fronts weren't big reds I figured he'd just painted the stock calipers (not replaced them). I checked the p/n of the rotor on pelican, and it did come up as a 4S part num.
I guess I'm assuming it's a 4S caliper and matches the rotor - can you use a stock caliper with the larger rotor? I didn't think so, but I guess I'll have to pull the caliper to make sure :P

It would be extremely odd for some one to do that. The consequnses are going too be pretty minimal
Just to be sure which of these is the rotor in question, look at the hole pattern and count the holes in an arc if necessary, to decide
