This is indeed a great forum.

I'd like to see a series of Rennlist 993 T-shirts to rival those specially embroiderd logo shirts for the 924/944/951/968 masses. I guess the real question would be... could the Rennlist goodie store sell 993 items?

Hi Craig...to pair with your Rennlist Ts, I'd recommend the 993Registry's T-shirt...super cool...

I use to be a m5er and found thier board excellent. I was on it all the time. It took me a while to find this board and I already feel like family. Everyone is witty and knowledgeble. It's good to have a place to quench your porsche passion throughout the day. Sweeeeeeeet

This is without doubt the best car forum on the planet. I would happily invite any of you guys (and girls) to my house if you are ever in the middle of the UK.

This is quite simply the best source of available information on our cars in the known (always wonder about this expression) world....it is frequented by like minded people who want to share their passion, information and news with other like minded people.....I have met a lot of Rennlisters now and have yet to find a bad one....hmmmm maybe you guys consider me the bad one.....I just suck up all the information and seem to have little to offer back....but believe me I do very much appreciate all the info and help provided by this board...past and present........but as to 996, what are they....I thought Porsche stopped building sports cars between 1998 and 2005.....(only joking 996 guys).

As to other boards...I was a member of 968.net for a while when I had a 968 but got sick of their bickering and nastiness and stopped going there....there were some really good guys but the rest just made it a less than pleasant experince and you always posted in your flak jacket!!!!

Hers to us all....and may the Rennlist spirit continue.....we talk, sell, trade and give stuff away to make this a one in a million community!!!

My Take:
1. Mature, considerate, respectful, and honest members
2. HUGE knowledge base specific to 993s
3. Passionate about Porsche's, especially 993s (we are all addicted! )
4. Very supportive of one another, both on the board and in person.

I beleive this is why we all get drawn to the 993 board. Like others have said, its a family and we all share a lot of common values and interests.

Thats why we often echo our slogan of "Is this a great place or what?"

Having owned a 964 for a few years prior to my 993, I would also have to say that the 964 board is VERY similar in personality, enthusiasm, helpfulness, etc., as the 993 board. I think both models are sort of "tweeners". Call it a step right between two technical platforms, or the final evolution of one platform, whatever. Either way, they are the bridge between two generations. Purists need not apply. Techno-newbies need not apply. Porsche-for-image-only guys need not apply. What you are left with are people who just simply love THIS car. I'm not saying 993'ers don't also love other models, and I'm not saying owners of other models are all purists, egomaniacs, etc., I just think there are fewer of them still driving 964's or 993's. They have all moved... laterally somewhere else. So we have a community here of people with the same interest and very few people standing up front rocking the boat. Of course, there is one other camp in the 993 board... the people lurking, waiting for someone to say something derogatory about their pride and joy so they can jump in here mightier than though and yell "Now go away, or I’ll taunt you a second time!"

I followed a BMW board several years ago and every other post was "YOU MISSPELLED 'IDIOT' YOU SMACKTARD!!!" There is no real technical justification as to why we don't have that on this board other than... we are just better people than them.

When in May? I'm in Florida until the 15th! I'm in Northampton which is about an hour south of Nottingham. If you're around the second half of May I'd love to meet for a beer! Anyone else in the UK up for this?

There is no doubt this is a great board driven largely by a number of great bunch of people. I think of it like the neighborhood bar...I've been on this board for a number of years...some people have come & gone...the focus on some of the content & posting has changed. The content used to be much more technically focused than today but it's still a great board.

I love reading about loud mufflers (or lack thereof) including mine and seeing the pompus reactions by some readers, I love seeing posts of people's wheels (although it makes me want to new set of wheels when I already have 4 sets in the garage), I love seing posts about wings (although it makes me want a big wing on my C2S but even my wife would notice that) and I love posts about DIY projects (most of which make me spend money). Most of all, this board has allowed me to meet a lot of great people and have a lot of fun!!!

Cheers,

Rick

I check the 993 board almost every day. I've learned a lot about my car here on Rennlist. I would reccommend it to anyone looking to buy a porsche. Thanks God for the internet!!
