Default Value of factory RS Wheels (Speedline for Porsche)

I had the opportunity to see a car collection owned by a local entrepreneur - he has more than 40 cars that I saw. He's in the process of buying out a collection on the west coast so will soon have a number of race cars including a 956, 962, 917, etc...

One of the things that caught my eye is that he has 3 sets of factory RS wheels (18" x 8 & 10" in NB offsets...the ones labeled Speedline for Porsche) that are just sitting and he indicated that he may be selling them. 1 of them is brand new (I don't think he'll sell those)...the other two have been sitting on show cars and have less than 1000 miles on them.

I think I'd like to buy at least one of the sets as I'm looking at buying another 993 and making it into an RS clone.

What would you guess is the value of these wheels? I've seen them on Gert's site for for $5000+ (they're no longer on his site so guessing no longer available).

Anyone interested in a set if I can get more than one set?

IMO there is nothing special about the Speedlines unless you have an RS and want to concour it.

I would far rather have a set of the new version Kinesis Supercups, I love the look, you can probably get wider than 8 & 10 and they will almost certainly be lighter.

As such I would not pay more than the cost of a set of Supercups

According to BW Motorsports (advertiser in Excellence), when the new Kinesis Supercups become available (predicted to be late March/early April 2006) they will likely retail at about $3,600 to $3,700 for a set of 4. Thus maybe Speedlines worth in that range.

Does anyone here have the clout to conjour up a GROUP BUY on the new K Supercups? They are similar to the older style except the rim is flat to the edge...so-called reverse rim. There must be one of our sponsors who retail Kinesis Wheels..WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THIS ..but who? A group buy price of $3,200-$3,300 might just be the ticket. I'm definitely interested.....probably others as well.

Regards, Gary

Bill has a valid point...but for me, I want to have authentic things on my car. I know that the K Supercups are a very good wheel but there's some value to me in seeing "Speedline for Porsche" on the wheel. Call me crazy...
I'm going to go see him this weekend...I think it I can get a set for around $3k I'll probably do it. If anyone else is interested for that amount please send me a PM. Thanks for the insights.

I have been waiting on the new Kinesis Super Cups for over a year (my deposit was put down in Feb 2005). I have been told 'they are 90 days out' since day one ... so I do not have a lot of faith in stated dates anymore ... and to be honest I am not sure that I really want them anymore based upon my experience.

If you want to see pictures of the prototypes you can look here:

Rick
Is the guy selling looking for an offer. I've talked to several euro sellers and they seem to be going for $4500.00 USD re-furbished to $8000.00 new. Good luck. let me know if the guy is selling the other slightly used set. I too am tiring of the long wait for kinesis.

Speedlines are heavy and likely detract from the high perf level of the RS.

If it was not for my interest in keeping the car original, a different and lighter set would be on my car. Just like Bill V said...
