In the past 3 weeks my car has had the gearshift jump into neutral when I try to take off from a stop light on 3 separate occassions. It could just be the cold weather and me not engaging first gear fully. I have been more conscious of this and it has not happened when I am being more aware of things.


So what could be the cause if not my carelessness? Is there a shifter linkage adjustment I need to perform?

Likage adjustment most likely, I had an old 911SC do that so I just held my hand on the shifter till it was time to grab second until I got it fixed...........good luck!

I had a 911SC and it started poping out of first and the transmission had to be rebuilt. Synchos were gone and first gear was toast. Hopefully your's is just a easy fix with the linkage.

This may be a sign of first gear syncro wear, but I certainly hope its just you not getting it all the way into gear. I am not certain if there is a linkage adjustment for these cars. I dont recall any possible.

The older 911's surely are sensitive to linkage adjustment, just not certain about the later 911's..
