agree with Danny, if I was given this budget for a 993tt, I would do the following...

1) plan a long weekend, taking off Friday and Monday

2) book flight to Houston, arrange for nice hotel

3) purchase a fun, new Porsche vintage t-shirt, or jacket (part of the kid-like build up)

4) travel to Houston on a Thurs night, get up Fri morning and drive to RPM SPORTSCARS

5) browse Ray Joseph collection and purchase your favorite 1997 993tt

6) if feasible, drive it home

No question, this is the approach I would take. I have no affliation with Ray, never even been to his shop, but based on feedback from others that have sold/bought with him, this is where to go when you want the very best of the best and have the money for it...

Default Well

I would go in one of two directions:

For 95k you are into '03 and '04 996tt range with warranty and CPO status....of course the depreciation hit will be big

OR

I would try to find a '94 "S" flatnose turbo or for less money a '94 911 Turbo

Of course, the folks here suggest the 993TT, but it would be my third choice

the real question is do you plan to drive it a bunch or keep it in the garage?

Nice problem to have

Every time I have been at Ray's, I have been in awe..I like Ray he is a straight shooter. Cosmetically the cars are flawless, but I would still do a thorough PPI.
I would also look at the black and the silver ones, they both seem to have suspension done, so if you are lucky you may get a TT that you will not need to upgrade the suspension so you should factor that as well. The red car certainly looks bone stock.
Good luck and let us know what you are getting!

Actually, with that kind of $$, I would get a 993RS from H&S, import it with a local group. I'd skip the big wing, but look for one witht he factory half cage, and obviously airbags and AC (yes, AC, I am in NC and would drive it). IT would have to be a 95 to import easily (OBD-II a b#$%^).

Turbo of any kind would be #2 after that. Sorry.

Dont spend $90k on a TT that sat around for 10 yrs. Get a nice low mileage one for 70k-75k and use the remainder for upgrades - suspension (5k), possible turbo upgrades (10-15k), etc and you will have a great car.
Checkout the 993tt board to see what people do.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be tempted to keep my 993, and get a really nice '93-'94 3.6T. You could spend maybe a bit less and have two different driving experiences available at your whim. The 3.6T's are sweet and have some nice rawness to them. My 2 cents...

$90K is a budget to be worked within. You can find a really incredible 993tt for well under that figure...I mean an absolutely pristine one...& still have some $$ left over for any mods that may interest you. You could easily get this car and still have money to spend on that awesome wife of yours....it will help keep her in the right frame of mind when it comes to "improvements" down the road. You ARE a very lucky man.
