Mark...thanks for asking, but no....
although $ for $, Chris's car is one incredible car. I am getting something a little more tame and a lot less money. It is a 80SC coupe, now a IP car, I may take it back to II: I want a heater! The car now has headers...no heat!
The final decision on whether of not to do IP or II depends on how fast the car is at Willow. The previous owner has seen a 1:35 in the IP iteration...if I can get within a second or 2, I'll forego the heat..and stay in IP.
I'd give you more specifics but I have not closed the deal yet. Wish me luck!

Well, good luck. And good luck staying in IP. I lasted a total of 3 races in JP. I went to V3 +100 lbs at Thunderhill. Alarcon's doing the fiberglass doors with the intrusion bars before Fontana. Let me know how it goes.

Your car really is a great car; too nice to go full race prep so kudos to your move! ...though it's a bummer that you'll be 993-less (which is why I could never part with mine). So are you going to the Weissach coupe you were talking about? And are you going to race, as in wheel to wheel and trading paint?

Edward, please!!!!!
Trading paint in the POC is a 13/13 event if it were caused by a specific driver. In POC Club Racing, in my opinion, there should be no trading of paint for any reason...I would hope, except for those "that's racing" incidents.
I have completed one (1) POC Racers Clinic. This means I can practice with the group I would be running with if I had a Cup Racer license, let's say Orange. This means I go out with the Orange TT Group for practice, and I can also run in the Orange Cup Race qualifier (With my transponder disconnected), usually 1 qualifier a day, or 30 to 35 minutes of extra track time per day....nice! At this point, with the Orange TT practice and the Qualifier, there is more than enough track time....figure fpour (4) 20 minute sessions on Sat + one (1) 30 minute qualifier...nearly 2 hours of track time a day, about the same amount on Sunday + the traditional TT. Next for me, my second Racers Clinic in June at WSIR!
If this sounds like fun to you, assuming you have your POC STS License, enter the next six (6) POC TT events. If you have done well, you may be selected for the Racers Clinic. It is NOT automatic. Do two (2) Racers Clinics (Two (2) offered a year), and you can earn your POC Cup Racing License.
POC Racing is as competitive as you want to make it...run for the front..or???
As far as the car I am getting, it will be a SC...not certain which one yet, and it will be at the most an IP car...I don't want to jump into V class...then I'd have Mark in Hermosa{That boy be fast} and a dozens of others climbing up my tail. I am still a newby to this racing stuff....However, complete all the Racers Clinic drills successfully, and then do your first race as I did in the December Racers Clinic, a 30 minute grand finale to the weekend, and then you will know the real meaning of a checkered flag. You'll be saying, "Damn, I actually finished a 30 minute race! I survived!" It is a quantum leap above pure time trialing...but hey, time trialing is fun too, just not as intense.
And finally, the best thing about the POC Program, you have lots of time to get to learn the driving habits of your fellow newby drivers...they'll know your style and you'll know their!

Martin,
Good luck, buddy. I'm not sure when I'll be back out there. Right now I have too many weekend conflicts with either my daughter's soccer games, or with work. I may be getting back into the kart in a few months, so let me know if you want to go out during the week (which is the only time I can go these days). Keep in touch, Martin.

Thanks for your support....
Flying Finn and Rich and my other Rennlist Pals...it ain't sold yet. Who knows, I may chicken out and decide to stay where I am with the 993. In summary...my 993 is about as set up as one can get without having a "real" stripped out race car............it will be an incredible multi-pourpose car for some lucky person.
If sold, I'll sure miss her...

Martin,
Sounds verrry cool, all of it. I will make my way to race group one day. Just not any time soon, as per wifey. Oh well, I can't complain as she not only has been extraordinarily generous about my doing time trials, but even more so by letting me get the Trackmeister. Best of luck to ya friend. I'll see ya at POC eventually! (still got that zone 8 TT licence, albeit expired ).

Martin,
Sorry to hear you're selling it. But I think you could get more than $40k for it, since Ceboyd sold her boyfriend's nearly identical car that had over 100k miles for $39k in ONE DAY here on Rennlist. Plus, his car had no aero parts like yours, no fire extinguisher, no kill switch, no tranny mounts, no litronics, no records, and was repainted. Best of luck in the sale; I'm sure it'll go fast.

Thanks The Other Eric....
Some other folks won't be too happy with your coaching. I will be putting together an ad this weekend, asking price to be determined, but at $40,000 the car is a bargain...I'd let it go for $45,000 today, and deliver it personally. Cosidering that I have nearly $28,000 parts and labor for the mods...$45.0 seems like a good price to me.

Martin,
I'll swing by BF today and give your car the once over and I can get more details from Mark since he's my mechanic too.
I drove a 911SC in the old POC R-6 & R-7 Cup race classes & PCA Club Racing Class G and even though it was not as fast as our 993's it was really fun mixing it up in traffic. My old SC at it's very best was turning 1:32's @ WSIR with the stock motor with headers & megaphones riding on 16" Hoosiers and in 97 & 98 seasons cleaned up the competition in both POC & PCA racing classes.
It was a great car and it's too bad the next owner trashed it and finally cut the car in half (down the middle) and mounted the drivers/left half on the wall of his Sports Bar in Tijuana.
Good luck in your new car...........ZP44
