CEL Question -- Generic (Audi A6 - 4.2L)
#16
Mark,
If the cel comes back again check Audiworld and ask if someone in your area has VAG-COM. It will read the codes letting you know what triggered them and allows you to reset them. The VAG-COM software runs about $250.

( Why don't RL have something similar for special tools )
Good question. VAG-COM works with both VW and Audi. Since Porsche is in the same family you might think it would have the same type of interface. I purchased the software for my 01 Allroad and it certainly has come in handy.

I have a B5 S4 that is always throwing codes- its been pretty tweeked.
I recommend that you get the Pro Diag software and load on an old Palm Pilot. You attach via the same VAG Com port but its so small I leave mine attached all the time and just read and clear codes periodically. Or just store it in the glovebox.
Unless you are doing some serious mods and want to log, the ProDiag is much easier than lugging around a laptop.
