You didn't see many because all of us 993 owners in So Cal are so wealthy we don't have to work anymore.............I wish....
Seriously I see, on average, at least 4-5 p cars everyday and I only commute 6 miles ea. way to work here in San Diego. If I want to see 20+ Porsches in a day, I drive the coast route from Mission Beach north to Carlsbad almost any day of the week with weekends being the best.

I work in the Spectrum in South Irvine. While walking at lunchtime, I always see at least 3 or 4 within 45 minutes. A lot of them are daily drivers, and most are 993s or newer. On Fridays, you see more.
PCH is Newport Beach is full of them all day long.

Ironically, I say 6 black Cayennes within a 5 mile stretch between Crystal Cove and Newport Beach yesterday! Sheesh. That doesn't count a charcole one and numerous other P cars. It's the yellow brick road...
