Isn't the main difference between OEM and aftermarket, the fact that OEM are from an injection process, yeilding a flexible part, versus an aftermarket part layed up in fiberglass....

The main difference is the fit.

That was the reason I opted for OEM. The material is very similar to what the bumper covers are made of... very flexible and forgiving. They still scratch, if you bump something way down there where the splitters are located (and you will bump something, someday), but they will hold up a lot better than fiberglass which would crack and shatter, I would think.

So far, from what I can gather, it seems if I want to mod the S bumper, I either have to buy a non-S bumper and put spiltters on, or I have to buy an entire bumper.

Paul
For the turbo bumper which you have on your C4S, you can add the Turbo S front spoiler to it. You can't add the Turbo S spoiler to the non turbo bumper. I believe Gert sells these.

My fiberglass splitters have done an excellent job of protecting my FPB from scratches.

I'd go cheapest because, you will damage it especially if your car has been lowered. My race car's GT2 front spoiler is currently held on by racers tape.

I bought factory, I suspect that aftermarket f/g would works as well, they really aren't all that flexible.

You do get a trio of appendages that are probably lacking on aftermarket versions

I have fiberglass from better bodies. They fit great, look great, cost a lot less, and haven't cracked. I have whacked them pretty darn good several times and the only noticable damage is hairline cracks in the paint on them.

Does anyone have a link to the better bodies web-site . . . or any other contact info?

Don't forget to consider MA Shaw, too.... Rennlist sponsor. ... and some say the best quality of the fiberglass knockoff stuff.

Hey Kelly . . . what's up bruddah?

Ma Shaw is surely on my "list". I just bought a Ma Shaw rear RS spoiler . . . second hand . . . but has never been painted or installed yet. For the front splitters and side skirts . . . I have a feeling I may go OEM . . . but who knows . . . the ol' wallet may get pulled some other direction and cause me to seriously consider the Ma Shaw or Better Bodies splitters. I've never seen any RS side skirts after-market . . . but not sure I'd go that route anyway.

Here are my MA Shaw Splitters I bought from the Rennlist classified last year for $300 and $150 for paint.

I spent a couple day sanding some of the tabs and building up other others for a better fit. Carrera Mike gave me a few pointers.

Here they are fitted after painting. The tabs were not giving a proper fit between the splitter and the bumper so I have to add 6 bolts to close the gap.

Here is the finished look.

They are pretty from a distance, but they are fiberglass and very fragile. The fit is embarassing when you get close - but maybe it is just me being fussy.

A shot from below:

Same shot with a flash - holy smokes! Water spots!

And good luck fitting the plastic wheel well liner. But this may be just my personal experience. Go OEM.
