Default OT- Battery help for Audi A4 (1999)

Ive been driving a 1999 Audi A4 this winter and the battery had to be jumped after the car sat for 6 days (used only on weekends) - happened twice. Therefore i assume i need a new battery. Im not sure how old the battery is, but at least 2 yrs.

Since many of you guys have Audis, what do you recommend for the battery? Where's the best place to get it? Is there something special about these batteries, that we need to only use the Audi one?

thanks for the help.. sorry for the non-pcar post.

Went up to Sears and had them install one in my '98 A4 Avant while I waited; took less than 1/2 hour.

Standard stuff. I put an Optima Red Top in mine - I would budget according to how long you plan on keeping the car.

so, as far as you guys know, there is nothing 'special' about the Audi battery that you can only use one from Audi? - i ask b/c its my gf's car, but people have said the batteries are non-standard - im hoping thats not true.

I put an interstate battery in the GF's 2001 S4. Not sure if yours is the same model but for at least the 01 they came with two different battery sizes. One requires a different bracket that we had to order.

I can't remember; pick up a phone and call them, lazybones!

Battery is relatively common one for imports; 24F as I remember.

I bought one for my 02 from sears as well. It wasn't the red top, but it is one made to replace the Audi one and it fits perfectly, correct nocthes at the bottom of the battery for perfect fitment as well.

I picked up a battery from Kragen that even looked close to the OEM style. I can't remember the manufacturer of the OEM but it wasn't a bright green Interstate. First one lasted 5 years and the second one is still working like a champ. You might not care about the way it looks....

I'm running an autozone battery in my '95 S6, works just fine and has a 7-year guarantee. Optimas are nice, but IMO aren't worth 2 or 3x the cost, when a $45 batt will start the car just the same. Just make sure the drain/vent tube is installed correctly, you don't want to be getting corrosion in the rain tray.
