No front plate required in TX!! They give out two in most cases, but "antique" plates (older than 25 yrs), only one is given. This, however, did not stop one of Comal County's finest from pulling a friend in his 964 over for lack of a front plate. The deputy thumbed through his book for 5 minutes looking for the appropriate "violation" and, after not finding his imaginary regulation, gave my buddy a hard time about having a USAF Colonel's plate, which is what came on the car when he bought it from said Colonel. Deputy Dawg even had the audacity to suggest that my buddy must have stolen it from the Colonel. Idiot.

I got a ticket for no front plate.. It was either I pay 60$ or fix-it and pay nothing.. I paid the cash, and still have not mounted a front plate.. front plates are kinda lame looking.. I'll just pay my 60$ every year or so for my option to run a Front-Plate-Delete!!

Hey Zombie,
That's what I told them- this is a european car and the oil cooler needs the air circulation. They didn't like it but let me go.
Hey Andy,
What kind of freak is your neighbor to be poking the law at you? Better watch your family, those do-gooder, watchers for mankind are always the pervs.

Yesterday S-bound 880, I passed a CHP parked under an overpass in Milpitas -- I was doing about 77, with traffic. I slowed down to about 72, looked in the rear-view, and CHP was moving, and I thought "hmm, I wonder if what I've been reading is true?" CHP moves closer, closer, in the lane to the right of me, and slowly passes. He kept on going ahead, and a few short minutes later, pulled over an econo-box sedan!

I received a ticket by a meter maid on my SUV. My front plate was stolen 2x (personalized plate and someone had a fetish for it) and now just keep it under my floor mat in the front seat.

What I'd like to see is the cops ticketing people with long expired plates. What's with that? Some a many months old, and just driving along like nothing is a problem.

They are - I lost the new tags before putting them on (a hassle since I have a lens over my plates) and its been 3-4 months now. Suddenly I got three tickets, $60-75 each, for expired tags. (I paid the first but I am contesting the others under a technicality since I did pay the annual fees on time). I do think there is a lot more revenue raising enforcement going on and more likelihood that meter maids will ticket parked cars, possibly for front plates too.

For the same reason that Hardly-able-to's are required to have mufflers despite a law saying they do- most cops are rednecks and can identify with a vet or hog but not a P-car.

Darn - just had the CHP pull me over just south of the 101 on the 405. He was trying to pace me but I slowed down before he could get behind me. He was looking for something to nail me on and he got it - no front plate. Now I have to find my front plate!

There are so many people driving cars around with no Rear Plates here in CA and I dont see any of them getting pulled over.

I just got a "Euro Plate" for the front end... does that count?

Around my area, it often works for a warning if you can show the front plate is with you and "recently was ripped off by a carwash, parking hit, etc., and the replacement bracket is on back-oeder" (usually all true, depending on your idea of "recently"). I always carry mine with me.

Every time I read something like this I think of the many officers that have died in the line of duty because of their chosen profession. They scarified their lives for others because of the world we live in. Look at the number that died in the World Trade Center trying to save lives. We could not survive without them. Tickets are part of life and a small part of an officer’s job. Calling them parasites is too harsh; you're out of line.
