Question CV Boot DIY

During my last tech, I found my outer driver's side CV Boot was cracked on my '97 C2. I did a search, but only found some info on changing the inner boot. How hard is it to change the outer boot? What's involved parts and tools wise?

I've got a new boot from the dealer, but I wondering if there is something else I'll need once I get in there. I'll of course inspect and repack the joint.

If you are doing the outer, then you are doing the inner by definition as you have to take the whole thing apart to get there from the inside.... I had some instructions I think I posted around here somewhere. I'll take a look and try to repost..

From the DIY forums on Rennlist check out CV joint disassembly tips please!, Addendum to "CV joint disassembly tips please!" and this really good step-by-step on the PelicanBBS.

Jason, excellent info, thanks. The Pelican DYI is just what I was looking for. While I'm in there I may just service all four, since the car has 70K miles now, if one goes I assume the rest will be there shortly.

If we could locate the guy we should ask him to post that message at the DIY Submission Forum.
