Default A/C & no workie

My A/C just started not to work when I tried it in Jan. for the fun of it.

In Phoenix area here.

Also, my horn does not work.

By Chance is the horn and A/C on the same fuse?

I am hoping for a fuse or green wire connection....investigating this weekend.

Default Hope for the best....

The air compressor will not turn over/engage if the coolant charge is below a minimum level. It may be that you have a very minimal leak (somewhere) and that all you'll need is a charge. The tech will be able to develop a fix plan once they pressurize the system.

I had a no air problem...it was one of the two hoses in the engine bay. The hoses are $300+, and labor. If it is the evaporator core, buried behind the gas tank, the standard quote is 10 hours of labor + about $400 for the part, figure $1,400 or so for the job.

You may get lucky and the fix could be minimal! I believe the horn has a separate fuse...but I am certain it is not linked to the air conditioner compressor.

Make sure the compressor wire (black) is still connected under the plastic cover in the engine bay.

Cool If you hear hoof beats....

look for horses, not zebras*! It may be something very simple...you already know the worst case. Note, a moderately accurate presumptive diagnosis can be obtained if the tech looks/feels down where the evaporator is located and determines if it is wet or dry. If it is wet, you are probably toast!

*However if you are in Africa, look for zebras!
