Default Clock question

Does anyone know which pins on the rear of the 964/993 clock are for: power, ground, time change? Here is a representative pic:

Making a clock for your office?

I saw this clock selling on ebay for $45, and thought it would be cool to put it in some sort of case with a 12V battery and use it in my office desk.

Another werid thing about these clocks is that they spell the word QUARZ instead of QUARTZ...maybe it's the German translation, but everything else has been translated to English, but not the word QUARZ.

Yep. And "Quarz" is indeed the German spelling. I already have a wood case that is sized perfectly for the 993 clock.

Now, if I ever found that 18" wheel, I could combine the two....

Andreas,

Here is the clock diagram. It's not too clear, but you can see what each pin goes to. It uses a common 12V positive (the big prong on the back), all the other pins, close the circuit to tunr individual lights on or off.

I remember reading somewhere on this site a long time ago that if you disconnect the clock/take it out of the car completely that it would trigger a CEL or throw the car out of wack.

Can anyone confirm this?

thanks

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't had an airbag in my car since new (Always been a big fan of MOMO) So that being said... Can I take out my clock and make it a nice office desk clock?

Andreas, shouldn't you be changing a diaper or emptying the Mr. Dirty Diaper or something?

Seriously, nice idea for a desk clock.

Why do you think I'm awake at 1:24 am?

It's just a friction fit into the dashboard, using a rubber gasket around the clock. You can get it out by putting a thin cloth (or layer of tape) over a flathead screwdriver, and then gently prying it out. I pry at the bottom so that marks will be out of sight if I make any.

My clock also went bad, and I found it cheaper and easier to get a good used one off ebay than bother with repairs. Part number is 993 641 701 00. Early 993s have a 964 part number, but the 993 items work on all the cars.
