Default US Porsche magazines?

Hi All,

Here in the UK I subscribe to three homegrown Porsche monthly magazines, namely 911 & Porsche World, Total 911 and GT Purely Porsche. Are there any US Porsche specialist magazines that you would recommend? It would be interesting to get a Stateside perspective on our favourite cars.

TIA

Is "Excellence" a Porsche-only specialist mag?

Good magazine IMO. This month's issue with RUF's original "Yellow Bird", sleeper 993 (with TT motor) was really good.

I've been a subscriber for many years and still like it. I also subcribe 911 & Porsche world which I also like.

Thanks guys - just called them and subscribed.

Boy! You guys over the pond really don't know how lucky you are. Cheap 993s, cheap houses, cheap petrol (aka gas), cheap Levis, cheap CDs, etc. etc., and now ----- cheap magazines!

Maybe the UK as the 51st State isn't such a bad idea??????

How could Excellence, "the magazine about porsche," possibly have any credibility on this Board when it said the following about the Cayman in its Nov & Dec issues?

- The Cayman S is meant to be a hardcore driver's car before anything else.
- a true enthusiast's car in no uncertain terms.
- GT and RS models aside, this really is the best-handling production Porsche ever.
- a Porsche for drivers who savor the total experience more than the occasional blast up an onramp.
- the Cayman S might be the most satisfying new driver’s Porsche this side of $100,000 — or a GT3.
- the Cayman S is the smart pick for serious drivers
- the new Cayman might be Porsche’s best chance at creating a third icon in 40 years.

Not yet, but after a recent impressive Cayman test drive I'm seriously considering one as a replacement daily driver for my 993. I'll decide after some more seat time & hopefully a few track laps in April.

My prior post was tongue in cheek given the continuous Cayman bashing here.

I like the car, and would order one, except it's a bit too small for me. Not quite enough legroom.

You won't regret it ... I have subscribed to Excellence since 2001, don't feel the need for any of the UK ones. In fact, I am always disappointed whenever I read one ....

cheers, Maurice

Thanks Maurice. I'll look forward to receiving my first copy, which I was led to believe will be sent out in March (it seems it's not a monthly mag. - I think the woman at the publisher said it was 9 or 10 per year).
