Just finished my HID install ( and had my taxes done between headlights ) -- Charles everything went sweet as a nut -- I deided to use the Velcro fitting inside the trunk but under the carpet just in case of moisture.

The only strange thing was that in one side the bulb slipped in wwith no problem yet on the other side I had to dremel a few mills from the side to allow the bulb to be inserted -- strange but true

Maybe now I can tackle brushing my teeth !! -- Since it was previously mentioned that if you could brush your teeth you can do this install

tj90: I just finished installing the vertex kit and its 4:30 am - Took me a while as I didn't know the first thing about these lights and taking them out and cleaning everything took time.

Anyways the Large Gromets that come attached to the HID bulbs with 2 wires going through fit the pre-drilled holes on the backing plate and its deceiving and it looks like the Gromet is too large but it is a prefect water tight fit so don't use the additional little grommets that they provided as they leave a big hole in it. You have to squish the Large gromet with the wires and jam/force it in - its a good tight seal and poke holes for the other two wires. No need at all for silicon.

How bad is it to leave space in that grommet? I used the thick ones that came with the new backing plates. How much water can get in there? I drive my car in the rain maybe once or twice a year.

Rick: When I took out my lights the back area and the top area of the housing were very dusty from 10 years of gathering dust. I don't think much water will get in but it nice to know that dust will not get in. When I cleaned my lights it was pretty dust free on the reflector and my lenses as it was pretty much somewhat sealed

BTW where did everyone mount the driver side ballast- there is not very much space to mount it as there is the Brake Fluid Resevoir there?

SR71 - Excellent, I will reinstall the lights so that Im usng the large grommet and throw away the other one. I mounted my DS ballast just below the BF reservoir. I used the 2 side sticky and 2 zip ties to insure it would not move. I did not bother using the L-bracket on that side of the car.

TJ90 thanks. I decided to mount the drivers side ballast drilling a larger hole on the supplied plate and attaching it to the ground wire nut along the left wall about 2 o'clock in front of the large wire harness that runs through the wall so that it doesn't get in the way of any thing. Hope you got the large grommets in as they really seal well just like factory - I think Charles didn't realize that they fit and supplied the smaller grommets also.

Yes - "new" modified grommet is in. Much better setup than the one Charles supplied. Thanks, TJ

Two questions:
1: Where do you splice in or attach the black & red wires, and do they also go through the grommet?
2: Anyone have any pics of install?

Edit: Came across: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ht=hid+INSTALL

I guess that's the one, huh?
