Default Maxflow vs RSR

Just a question...simple answer required. I am looking for a LOUD exhaust system. i will be buying some sort of Cat byspass system. And I want new mufflers. Which are louder...the RSR or the Maxflow? I love the sound of the Fabspeed Supercups, but they dont allow for factory tips...which is a requirement for me. Is the RSR gonna be louder than the maxflow? Are there any other mufflerless exhausts that allow one to use the factory tips? THANKS GUYS!

why are tips a must? Go with fabspeed supercups w/ a cat bypass pipes, and if you must have factroy tips,
have them wielded in>.....
you cannot go wrong, that with the motorsound pkg from fabspeed will add like 40 hp

Factory tips DO NOT fit on the Maxflos...Maxflos have their own tips with extensions...you could have them custom fabricated.

Speaking of Maxflos...I have a used set for sale for $600 if anyone's interested.

I've had stock, Motorsound, RSR, Supercup, 964 GHL (catless, no heat, w/headers), and Maxflows on my car. In order of loudness (high to low)

Supercup
964 GHL
Maxflow
RSR
Motorsound
Stock

Resonance with both of the Fabspeed setups should be expected.

I would be curious to see torque curves of all of the popular aftermarket exhausts... I have a feeling the results may not be good..

Chris, interesting point you bring up.

My previous experience has found that exhausts do little in terms of performance gains, but do add quite a bit to the exhaust note. However, removing cats and replacing with straight pipes no doubt will increase the horsepower, but it's been debated time and time again the effect on torque numbers and +/-. I have seen more of a shift in torque band with a slight increase in torque and slightly higher HP numbers. But rarely does a muffler do much to HP/Torque output. Tuners would leave you to believe otherwise.

Also, properly engineered fuel maps (ecm code) need to be considered to maximize any performance mod. I get a real kick out of air intake "upgrades"...I have yet to find a K&N or cone filter that actually IMPROVES performance. All the ones in my experience has actually had a negative impact on performance, even when new!

I do want a very loud setup. I love the way the RS sounds in the fabspeed video witht he cat bypasses and supercups...but i hate the way fabspeed parts look/fit. I want some supercup "style" mufflers with RUF tips.

When I bought my car, the PO had installed custom straight pipes that replaced the mufflers. Although it sounded great, it was way too loud for daily driving.

Although I never tested this set-up on a dyno, my "butt dyno" told me the car was quicker with this set-up vs when I put the Motorsound mufflers back on.

Maybe it was just my imagination, but the straight pipes seem to allow the car to accelerate in a more linear manner through the RPM range.

Just my .02 YMMV

Do you still have the straight pipes? Do they allow stock tips? If so I will buy them!!!
