sissor mid-rise lift to remove engine?
does anyone have one of those sissor type mid-rise lifts or have used one to
remove the engine from a 993?
I'd like to buy one but I'm afraid it won't do the job that I want it to.
I don't want a two post lift in my garage.

I do, made by Eagle, works great and take little space. I suggest the 48" rise.
There was a very long thread on that topic a few months ago - discussed what could/ could not be done in terms of engine removal etc...

I would be interested as well, and have a friend that would want one too. Count us in for two if you can find one at a good price that is friendly to 993's, 911's and 914's. (The two latter for my friend)
Robin, how the hell you been, man? I see you on here sporadically. We need to hook up this summer when I come to San Diego for my annual B/D meeting in June/July. How far is that for you? Maybe I could fly in a day early to spend with you. We'll see...

Very useful for other cars too.
Just finished changing accumulators, shock boots, shock bump stops and rear muffler.
Once you have a lift you'll wonder why you did not get one a long time ago.

Robert,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am about 2 hours from San Diego, let me know when the date gets closer. I will probably take the 996 for the longer trip.
OK, So I am counting at least 5-6 units. I think that's enough for a group buy. So let's get this thing initiated....

How safe are these things?
You can raise the vehicle and then place it on jackstands. See photo. I did that to access the transmission pan to drain it and change the filter.

Exactly which lift are we talking about? Eagle or the Bend-pak?

I should have been a little more specific in my original question: Which lift are we talking about for this group buy?
