would ya ever go for this 959/993?

I didn't realize real 959s were in the $200k range, wow... Now that Gates cut the red tape with US registration, I would have thought they'd go UP in value because owners can drive them legally over here.

Am I missing something? They said Bi-Turbo base so that means it's not a turbo correct? It looks more like a 95 993 not a Turbo. It's definitely not as clean as it looks, IMO. Especially not for that price. It must be my eyes but I don't see any Turbo Chargers, Turbo inner cooler or Turbo gauge. But what do I know I got a NA 3.6L

Personally, I could never spend that much on a conversion.
Nice looking car, and non p-car enthusiasts may be impressed . . . but c'mon . . . who are you buying for??? For me? It's for me . . . period. Besides, I'd feel like a poseur to any real p-car enthusiasts.

actually think they'll move up even further... low prod. #'s don't happen like that anymore w/ porsche.
240-some 959's in comp. to 1250 C-gt's. ---- will be weird when the values cross.

pardon me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the whole point of the 959 (at the time) for showing all of the technical suspension and transmission wizardry along with the flat out speed?
the real 959 have in dash ***** and buttons to raise and lower the car, and various traction settings for rear torque biasing and balanced torque splits...but if this is just a (kevlar, right?) body panel conversion- then it's just a pretty waistline with an uprated engine. no new buttons on the interior from the looks of it- that might make it worth a few bucks more.
but as other people have said- i'd get something else for the money.

Nope. There is an importer in California that brings them in from Europe and converts them to US spec and polishes them up for the $250K range. He also does some motor and suspension mods to improve the car.
They are not holding value in Europe and can be had for even less if you want to DIY, but I don't know what you need to do to please the DOT.

They could have at least spent a few quid either masking the rear silencers, etc or repainting them - they look like crap in those last pictures. I think you could get way better value for your money elsewhere.
I had a friend who deseamed his mini when we were younger. All they do is cut a bit of gutter off, reweld, cut some more, reweld, etc and then clean it all up at the end. It's been done on minis and beetles for years, back to the sixties. I'm not sure how keen I would be to have an accident in a car that had had it done but it does look good!
Cheers,
David

Shame! Poor 993. This reminds me of a guy who pulled up in a gas station in a Fiero Ferrari Conversion and the girl who was with him noticed my F-car and asked me what year was mine? I couldn't stop myself from laughing! Chris
