"When you rub compound polish with a rag on your yellow paint, what does it show? Old oxidized yellow paint or grey surface dirt".
Were you able to that?... If at least you'll then know which surface there is to work on, you'll have a better idea on this polishing project. The clear varnish is much harder then the paint. Before you start check the surface, you must do that first.

Marc:

The car is single stage paint. I'm not sure what you mean by varnish. If you mean clearcoat than this car does not have the varnish. When you sand the car yellow paint is removed not the white powder. When you take a rag with compound yellow oxidized paint is removed along with dirt. I know what surface I am working with. The car has been sanded and buffed 2 times already. I am on the polishing stage right now. Pics will follow shortly of before and after. You will tell the difference in the front bumper and the decklid because I didn't do those due to the fact I am putting a tt tail and tt front bumper on the car

Mike, sounds good!.. Thanks for answering.. Hey, when are you going to come to France with your machines, sand papers and polishes? There's a GPWhite 911/964 to polish if you find the time, you could make a small fortune here. Good luck and don't forget the before and after pics.
