Let's suppose for a moment the 993 didn't happen and the 996 followed on from the 964 and the Boxster and the 997 and the Cayman ... if Porsche brought out the 993 today, how would the buyers and the reviewers react? I have to imagine it would be greeted as the most beautiful and simply perfect evolution of the 911, no?

Interesting point CGT. Maybe not from mechanicals or specs, but definitely from looks.

The design is 12 or 13 years old, and does not look at all dated.

The 993 Carrera S with the wide body and split grill is one of the most stunning 911's of all time. Thanks for all the great pics.

allill: That's an awesome cab. Is it one of the few that were ordered on spec for Beverly Hills Porsche or is it a conversion? Looks fantastic. I love the clean lines of the rear with the bumperettes and decal removed and the painted grille.
