When the PDAS of my old 964 C4 activates, a little light (yellow) on the center console turned on (blink).
Is there a similar light that turn on in the 993 C4(S) when the ABD activated ?
I drove my 4S on the snow but I didn't see any light turned on when the car slipped.
Do you know why Porsche as chosen to turn off the stability system of the 993 after 70 km/h?
Thanks

I think it only comes on when you have the LSD option, which includes ABD. I have LSD/ABD, and saw mine come on once at about 25K miles, without brakes on. Never saw it even under hard ABD braking. Not sure if LSD was even an option on 4S.

All C4 and C4S 993's have LSD and ABD, so yes you will have a light that comes on when ABD is activated. After doing about 15 track days in my C4, I never saw the ABD light once. So like Terry says, it's not easily activated.
BTW, ABD isn't a "stability system" since it doesn't measure yaw. Just measures relative wheel spin.

I had the exact same question about the light during the first few months of ownership.
Until.... I "exercised" it in an icy parking lot doing donuts :-)... accelerating in a straight line alone would not do it !
Since then it hasn't come on during normal driving, including a day at Lime Rock Park.

You are right Eric, the first real stability system was in the 996 series (PSM).
In 3 years of ownership (C4S), never saw this light, too.
Next time it's snows, I'll try the donut's test... ;-)
Thanks all.

I have had mine come on in really horrible icy conditions. It also comes on when I take my car in for its semi-annual smog test. In Washington, they use a rolling road to test. My dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree after this test.

The PSM (Please Save Me) was available starting with the 996 series cars.
IIRC, ABD only activates under 24mph.
Make certain you are under 24mph when doing doughnuts in the snow
