Default Anyone have a CDR 210/220 cable link to CD changer sitting around?

I am trying to hook up my head unit to my ipod via the aux in. As I understand it, this will work with either the CDR 210 or 220 via the cable that connects the head unit to the cd changer mounted in the trunk. I have a CDR 210 and 220 but no cd changer, therefore no cable. Does anyone have that cable? It connects to the back of the head unit and ends in two RCA jacks and one plug. The stealer wants $149 for one. Anyone have one they aren't using?

Am I missing something? Is it easier than this?

Hey Father...

I don't believe the CD changer cable will work with the ipod. You can get the proper harness from Becker NA for a relative pittance; or you can do what I did and pay a lot more for the same thing at a local car stereo shop... I got mine through Beach Auto Sound in Costa Mesa.

I also understand that the CDR-220 is a lot more "plug and play" than the 210 when it comes to the ipod.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or need advice... I went through all of this a few months ago!

I'll call Becker tomorrow morning. Sheesh, $149 from the stealer!

Thanks for the offer Jeff. I'll PM you if I still have questions tomorrow.

Okay, here is what I pulled down from the Becker site (embarassed to have posted the question before googling cdr220 and ipod) for the sites benefit.

Porsche owners:

ONLY THE MODELS CR/CDR 220 HAVE AUX INPUT!!!!!..

THE CDR23 DOES NOT...

We now have a Telephone power cable, 5001.524-276. This allows power/phone mute to the existing car wires without any cutting. The price is $5.00 (list).
OEM Becker Radio removal keys, BNA-1184.989 ($1.76 set) Plus $5.00 small order handling fee
To add additional amplifiers use low-level audio adapter, 1185.640-276 ($16.60)..
Speaker/power plug is 1163.736-276 ( $14.00)
Phone mute/Aux audio-in/Tel audio-in/Removal keys in one kit is, BNA-116.276 ($16.40)
CDR-23 Phone input cable is BNA-116.276 ($17.00)
To order please call our parts department at (888) 423-3537 x1209

Looks like $16.40 for the wires and the removal keys (for which I spent $16 alone today). I swear Porsche was going to charge me $149 for the same thing. I'll update tomorrow.

Yep, the harness and key kit is what I got. You're also going to need a converter cable that will reduce the two RCA lines out of the harness to a single jack.

Do you know yet how you're going to hook into the ipod? I bought the car kit from Belkin that includes a cig lighter adaptor and the "docking" connector for the ipod... so you'll have the cable from the CDR-220, the adaptor, and the docking connector. I didn't think it sounded all that great and I didn't like the cig lighter thing, etc.

Soooooooo... I ended up just going directly out of the headphone jack of the ipod and just keep it charged. Below is a pic of where I keep it in the car.

Default You need this

Get this cable from Continental Imports

I've done several TrafficPro installs (964/993/M Coupe) and this is the ideal cable. It does away with the need for an RCA patch cable. Less than $20.

Trojanman: I plan to do the same as you, though my remote V1 display currently sits there. I may put the V1 display in the ash tray and free up that space for the ipod. Do you use velcro or anything similar to hold it in place?

Alpina: Wow, does this cable fit into the back of the CDR220? How about the CDR210? That looks ideal.

Yes it plugs into the back of any Becker HU (chamber C3). Some Becker units that did not have an aux setting can even be programmed to do so. I believe Becker charges $100 for the modification.

To see if your particular HU has an AUX setting, depress the tone button for 2 seconds and scroll to AUX input. By default it's set to off. Keep this in mind if you disconnect the battery for winter. Anyway, if you don't see the option then you don't have it but sending the unit to the manufacturer will take care of that.

In my last order w/Continental Imports, I ordered 3 but 1 is still on back order (I've been doing quite a few install lately). So go ahead and order one and it'll show up soon enough. Good luck.

I actually don't use velcro and it pretty much stays there unless I get real aggressive. The velcro is probably a good idea though.
