Default Wiring question

I am looking at a 97 993 C2S and my question has to do with the wiring harness. I remember that some of these cars had a harness problem, was this a recall? was this problem solved by model year 97? Would this show up on the ppi [ whether it was replaced or not] How would I know if it's a problem for this car? Thanks.

As I seem to remember, it was an early model problem ('95 and some '96). Porsche dealer did mine at no cost back in 2002. However, do a search on the forums to find more info.

I agree with Ray - it was a problem that affected the early models, and I think was restricted to model year '95.

Thanks Guy's I did try a search and found nothing. So you are pretty sure the problem was solved by the time the 97 cars came out?

Some of the early model 96's also had the problem and were recalled for a check.

It was a safety recall for a free harness replacement, which is still in effect. It was based upon the batch # of the harness which is on the harness label located (IIRC) inside the plastic box on the left engine compartment wall. There were bad harnesses up through early build MY'96. Based on VIN a P dealer can advise if a car was possibly covered by the recall. To be sure the harness # must be checked.

jnx - Call Al at Parktown's service dept. (314-965-7711) w/the VIN & he can check the recall advisory.
