Default Help - Pulling to the right.

I had TRG swaybars installed on my car.
After the install, my shop (Mind Over M) redid my alignment. Everything checks out in the alignment however the car pulls a lot to the right. The alignment specs are the same as what i had before the sway bars install.
My mechanis is not exactly sure why this is happening.
Any ideas/hints are appreciated.
BR,

Just had TPC do my last alignment (against my better judgement, but it was insurance work and the body shop swears by them). Anyway, my steering wheel is a few degrees to the right of center. Be sure your car really pulls right or maybe it's just the steering wheel wasn't centered before. Also check your tire pressure and be sure neither of your right calipers are sticking.

touf, When you say "it pulls right" are you talking about under braking? Or just driving straight on a flat surface?

Hmmmm...if it's not tire pressure or sticking caliper and your alignment specs are good...then I wonder if they checked to see if the frame was square after the repair.

Kim, I don't think Touf had any damage, just an install of swaybars.

Strange that swaybars would affect straight line handling, no?

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I'd say the alignment is off and to have MOM recheck it thoroughly if they were the last to touch it before going bad. BTW, why is an alignment needed for a sway bar install?

Rick Lee- sounds like they need to redo the toe as it isn't exactly centered in the rack.... loosen up one side, tighten up the other.

Other than the "incident" at Cal. Speedway?

Tony, Craig,

If what you are saying is true, touf needs to be a bit more forthcoming than he was in his initial post to get an accurate answer to his question.

If you mean that when driving down a straight level road if you take your hands off the wheel it pulls strongly to the right, if your mechanic can't figure out the cause, bring the car to somebody who knows how to do wheel alignments on a Porsche 911. it's different than doing them on a freakin' Ford F-150 pick-um-up.

Installation of sway bars by itself should not affect alignment. However, if you screwed around with lowering or some such, might be different.

Let me summarize a bit more:
After the incident at the Cali Speedway I had a suspension installed (PSS9), the sway bars stayed stock. An alignemnt was done and everything checked out ok. The car did not pull to the right. I drove the car 2 weeks and then I decided to get TRG sway bars.
After the sway bar install, an alignemnt was done again and the alignemnt specs were correct.
The car however now pulls to the right on a straight line.

I don t think this has anything to do with the acident damage because the car drove perfectly straight after the car was repaired and was aligned.
The nly thing I can assume is that when the alignemnt was redone after the sway bar install that somehow the Toe in the front is still a bit incorect.

In this case, I would guess the alignment needs to be rechecked. Pulling issues with regard to alignment usually has to do with caster or camber settings and not toe.

If alignment checks out, you either have a bent part, brakes dragging or some other mechanical malfunction.

Have you tried swapping tires from left to right to see if it's a possible tire issue? I know the tires are directional, but you can swap them for a short period without harm for testing purposes.

With regard to the pulling on flat ground, is it a hard pull or more of a drift to the right? Under acceleration or coasting?

It is a hard pull under coasting. It gets worst under braking as weights shift to the front.
The mechanic is going over the alignment again.
Thx.

Are all of the tires of the same age? I once I installed an older tire/wheel while getting a wheel repainted and the car started pulling significantly. The tire was the same make, same size, just older.

Couldn't figure it out until I put the original tire/wheel back on. I was really surprised at the pronounced pull that one tire produced.
