Default PPI in Pasadena-LA Area (again)

I would like to have a 98 "dentist owned" C2S 41k non freeway daily driver, checked out next week(19th-23rd) before the Holidays. Thanks in advance for recommendations.

Try Glenn Yee Motorsports in San Dimas. This is about 15 minutes down the 210. Glenn is a great guy and the shop does very good and throrough work. Good luck, hope the PPI is clean!

I would walk over razor blades before using Rusnak.

My family has used Scientific since the late 60's. Jack will give it to you straight.

They saved us from buying a 993 that would have been good to them because of the hidden issues.

I take my car to Scientific also. Jack seems to know these 993 very well.

Talking Hergesheimer Motorsports

I am certain that Scientific is great, maybe Rusnak as well. But what I do know is that if you want a 993 checked out thoroughly, you should consider a shop that has the Porsche factory computer for checking out the OBD II system. Some sneaky sellers have been know to disconnect the CEL light to get around a CEL fault...it will show up at the SMOG station, so you'll find out sooner or later.

I know that Hergesheomer Motorsports in Lake Forest had the Porsche factory computer. The paid about $12,000 for this little $1,500 computer with proprieatary Porsche software. Good luck with the prospective 993...what an incredible car.

Best regards,

Are you saying that otherwise a shop is not able to determine whether the light has been disconnected? Can the SAI issue be evaluated by a shop without the factory computer?

Talking Don't really know for certain as I am....

not a mechanic. All I know is that if I were doing a PPI for a 993 OBD II car, I would want the brain scanned for any faults. Hergesheimer does a great job and they also check out flow in the secondary air injection using a dowsing rod, or some other such contraption.

All lights should come on when you first turn the ignition on. If the CEL were NOT on that would be a clue....I am away from my car so I cant really check...but that makes sense to me, but then again, so do a lot of things that turn out to be false such as the Easter Bunny, Santa, etc....

Martin,

Scientific has the Porsche factory computer. Hergesheimer is legendary and if I lived in the OC I would take my car there but it is over an hour from Pasadena.
