Default Fitting wheel spacers

Hi All,

Just a quick (and probably stupid) question about fitting wheels spacers: Is it just matter of bolting them on and torquing them to 90lb/ft or something? Or is there any subtlety I should be concerned about (never used them before).

I was thinking I'd put a little copper grease around the centre to help removal, but that's about it..

Cheers,
Dave.

Just put them on and torque to same value as wheel lugs.

I am assuming that you are using hub-centric ones with attached lugs? Never use non-hubcentric ones and be cautious about ones without lugs. You need to be able to get at least 7(?) full turns of the nut for safety. Can someone else verify the 7?

I've a better solution to the 7 turns.. Dont use them at all.. wheel spacers are a sure way to complicate yer life.. I tried them once, and the vibrations and headaches that were associated with them is not worth it.. buy different wheels, if you already have a widebody..

Thanks, guys..

Got them on now - no bother... They're just for my winter wheels (a set of 17" Boxster twists) in order to get them to just about fill the arches - they won't do many miles, and they're certainly not for any spirited driving.. For summertime, the standard 18 Turbo twists are fine without them..

Edit: they are indeed the type with the studs - I used steel nuts, too - no problem with thread length etc.

Cheers,
Dave.
