Newbiewan,
While your engine is already completely dismantled have your shop measure the valve guides for wear with a dial-guage indicator. You are paying for a topend rebuild (40 hours) but your not quite getting one and the additional machine shop rates for a valve job are under $500USD(?) so you may even want to just do it regardless. There is no question you are going to have problems with valve guides in the future so why not replace them now with something better that won't give you problems?

Yes...Parts and labor. The labor portion came to 3.6k he did not tell me the total hour estimate...but at $90 per hour that's 40 hours.

I've been very happy with Alan and Jerry at German Car Repair in Roswell. My 30K service and clutch was around $2000 total. This included replacing a couple of seals.
Bring that car out to our "car guys morning out" tomorrow (Sat.) at the Avenue East Cobb. (Hwy 120 just east of Johnson's ferry.) We get a neat collection of everything from Antiques to New supercars. Usually have some nice Porsches too. Starts at 8:30am till 'round 11.

Thanks for the tip Reynard38. Unfortunately, my car is in several pieces right now I would definitely be interested to know when you guys plan similar events in the future. Is their a local message board, or is it word of mouth? I expect it will be a few weeks before I'm back up and running.
