Updated: Power Steering Question?
I just picked up my car from the body shop (front end damage repair, new euro turbo bumper, s ducts, etc..) and it is extremely hard to turn at low speeds. I did some investigating, and the Power Steering Fluid Resevoir is bone dry.
The manual says ATF Hydraulic Fluid (Dexron II-D). None of the auto parts stores are open & tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I bought a bottle of Valvoline ATF Dexron III/Mercon. Can I use this? '95 C2 Coupe. If not what should I buy?
I really don't want to not be able to drive the car tomorrow, as I have been w/o her for almost 8 weeks. HELP!
TIA-Brian

I added the fluid & now everything works fine. One question for the tech guys. I drove around 70 miles or so w/o power steering fluid, what are the long term implications to the power steering system & rack? Do I need to go after the body shop to replace the system?
Thanks

I would put in the claim now and document the problem with a certified letter. Get your Porsche dealer to chime in on the unseen damage caused. Don't wait until you have a problem, as it will be too hard to link it to your body shop. What morons, most people just don't care about the quality of their work
