Default 1997 C2S price? From a newbie

Hi
I'm new here but have a been a huge fan of the 993 for years and am looking at a 1997 C2S, Arena Red / Black with only 20,000 miles. The price is $54,000. Is that about right?
Should I hold out for a C4S? What do you guys think.

It depends on it's condition and options. Get a PPI from a knowledgeable shop that you trust. Then you can better determine the car's value.
But if you really want the C4S with the AWD, Big Reds, etc. then wait for "IT".

Price sounds a little high but then again the range can be huge based on condition, options, etc.

I love the sure footedness of the 4s's, but then again I'm partial. One thing for sure, I wouldn't own one of these cars UNLESS it was a wide body.....flame suit securely fastened!.

Just my opinion.

I agree with Mike it sounds a bit high. BUT, if it's "the car" buy it.

If your heart says "I want it", then buy it.
if your brain says "that's too much money", then walk away.

Why ask us? It's your piggy-bank and potential future toy.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the "wide-body" thing... if you ever see them side-by-side, there's really a pretty small difference. There is howver, a pretty stiff price penalty for the wide-body cars.

Try to get him to $50K. But I agree if it is right buy it, non of these cars are going to fall a lot in value. In order of rarity and desirability the C2S is up there. People love them or hate them. They offer nothing special over a much cheaper C2, in fact they are heavier, but the fat rear is seductive and sex sells. I wouldn't trade mine for the world, well maybe a TT.

Not sure where you are, but this car (and I have no affiliation other than knowing the car and the owner)http://mall.rennlist.com/scripts/fea...uery=retrieval
is a great car, and the guy is meticulous about its condition.

I'm a widebody guy, My 1985 Carrera was a factory widebody, I just love that look of something low to the ground and takes up the whole lane. If that's what you're looking for then go for it. But if you want a NB then I'm sure you can find one with a much better price.

The C2S or C4S are both awesome, C4S will definitely handle better but I believe it's also heavier than the C2S. I love my C2S. Right now, I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

I just bought (11/12/05) a 1998 C2S, Arena red/classic grey, 30k miles, car perfect except needs new tires (in my opinio, not dealer that performed PPI), perfect PPI except needed a quart of oil. Paid $49.9 k in Florida and shipping to CA. Car was still listed in Autotrader on 11/15/05. Take a look
