Holy cow! I was just thinking of doing this but instead modified my 3rd brake light to act as a tail/brake light; although I actually did this by accident!

I am curious about this. Where would the two extra lights go?

Perhaps you can use the 2 empty spots in the rear reflector?
That's where the RoW cars have the rear fog lights.

Maybe someone could make a kit that would replace the rear bumperettes...

Where do the other two go that you're talking about?

I did this on my son's BMW. The germans have rear fog lights so there was an unused socket which I rewired to the stop circuit. Makes sense that Porsche may present the same opportunity. Anyone know for sure?

If you go to p-car.com Robin has a DIY to hook up the rear fog lights using the swith kit that Gert sells. If you remove the center reflector you will see that there is space to put in the sockets. You can follow the rear fog instructions to install dual filament light sockets and then tap into them into the brake lights. I was thinking about finding a way to get the rear center reflector with the "Porsche" logo to light up like the aftermarket kits they had in the 1980s.

I pulled out my center lens just now to have a look, and removed a socket blockoff to see if I can find a socket for this. It seems like a great safety upgrade for those of us who commute to work in our 993s.

I am not sure this will work yet, but I did notice that the two Hella PY21W sockets that come with the front clear indicator lens package (the ones you stick in a drawer because you're using the original sockets on the car) look like their mounts are the right diameter and depth. The only problem is that they have three tabs spaced at 120 deg each instead of two tabs spaced at 180 deg. Other than that this project looks like just a tiny bit of wiring and a couple white bulbs for a nice upgrade.

It's not much of an upgrade on Norm's car, as I'm pretty certain he never uses his brakes

He's fast... no need for no stinkin' brakes...

Just out of interest, why don't you hook up the fog lights? I've had a few times when I was driving in the US and wanted to use fog lights. Do you guys just prey that you won't get rear-ended?

Cheers,

David

Still getting it all buttoned up, but here's how it looks with a Sylvania 1157 bulb in each fog lens (with both filaments on with the brakes). I like it. It's very attention-getting.

Those lights come on with the white reversing lights on mine, I checked it out and all looks like it should be like that.
I was thinking of connecting them to the stop light circuit. Will do it when I do my front parking light mod.
