Nope I did not. But was a rear seat passenger with the owner driving. The car pulled really well. I actualy was a little surprised by how strong it feels (car has 1,200+ miles on it and is already broken-in).

If someone wants a 4-door, 5 seat, kind of civilized-ride sedan, the E60 M5 is worth a look. Err... test drive, don't look, as you'll be disappointed.

However, I will get a E39 M5 1,000 times over the new one. But that's just me. I am not in the market for a sedan so it really does nothing for me. Also, performance numbers aside, it is not the exhilirating ride like the 993. Porsches (993 in particular) full-fill ALL the senses like no other car can.

No contest, there, Pong. The others are "nice" cars; your Ruf steals the show.
Thanks for sharing, though!

Nice pics... thanks! Gotta say though that for me the NSX headlights and the overall look of the M5 are disappointments for me considering how much I enjoyed the previous M5 look... To each his own I guess...

Cheers;
Eric

I did not see any clutch pedal in the M5!

Those slush boxes just aren't any fun and Chris Bangle never asked whether his cars butts looked big in that new outfit!

While the M5 is undoubtedly fast and capable I would never spend that much money on a that M5.

unless i'm mistaken- the m5 doesn't have a slush box. that's a true smg. a ****ty smg, but an smg non-the-less. no clutch, no slush.

I'm with the majority here..The RUF looks as good as the M5 looks ugly.

Maybe someone should email this thread to BMW.

Wait Seljan,

I thought you were considering the M5. I actually posted this thread for you and Jonathan (MrSullivan).

I had the previous M5, didn't keep it long... Was thinking of getting the new one, but it is way too expensive for what you get. I'll keep the 97TT and FX35... both are better at what they do than a combo car like the M5 for about the same overall price... There is a blue M5 at Seattle BMW... didn't even raise my pulse one BPS...

Nice RUF

Pete,

Your E39 M5 and 993tt is a great combination. I love the AR color.

I had the E39 M5 and the RUF and that was fun too. Unfortunately the M5 met an untimely demise, so now it's a RUF and a Lexus RX330. I wouldn't buy the E60 M5 at half price.

This joke is originally from Jay Leno (and I added a littel bit at the end):

Just when you think things cannot get any uglier at the White Houes, Prince Charles and Carmilla show up.....in an M5.

Enjoy.
