Question Best Way to heat cycle tires yourself

I got a new set of Advan A048's coming today and have not seen any info on them that recommends heat cycling. Just the same I would like to take them out for a run before I go to Infineon next weekend. Is it better to go for a long highway run or a 50 mile run on twisty roads?

Either type of driving will work if you get them hot. Then, remove them from the car and let them rest for at least 24hrs, 48 is better.

I agree with Bull. I've heat cycled MPSC's on the highway and gotten them up to 140 degrees after a ten minute highway blitz.

The best way (and safest) is to find a big parking lot and drive in circles. The local high school has a large lot that is empty at night. I go out there after 9 pm and drive as hard as I can in second gear making a large circle. After 25 laps or so I reverse direction. I finish off by doing both directions another 20 times or so. I've not taken the trouble to measure the temps, but those tires are very hot. Then drive home and park the car for 24-48 hours.

Why can't you mount them and leave in an enclosed car on a sunny day for an hour or so?

Many have advised to unload the tires after their first heat cycle. Putting thr car on stands would do the trick.

Tire rack has the heat cycling instructions for many r rated tires on its website.

Hoosiers, for instance, are to be brought up to operating temperature gradually, without shocking the rubber, for optimal molecular bonding to occur

I would guess you would need a pretty curvey road to gvet them up to operating temperature.

Thanks for the advice all. I need to wait for the sun to start shinning again this week then I will take them out for a run.
