Default Dist cap/rotor and 1/2 the plugs

WOW that was scarry

I just did the drivers side plugs, the distributer cap and rotor while I had the blower parts off. Thanks to Robin's p-car site and searching old posts here the job went pretty smooth and took about 2.5 hrs.
The scarry part was the top back plug felt like it came off and I happened to get her back on the spark plug socket (make sure you use a new or tight fitting socket). Everything is close to the same as my '77 3.2 but alot less room, I almost gave up at one point
I had a hefeweizen and said screw it and kept going. Now for the passenger side
Maybe next week

Or you could do like most shops and do 5 of the six on the passenger side.

BTW, just had my first hefeweizen a few weeks ago... great brew!!

Good luck w/ the rest of the plugs.

For me, it helped knowing that many rookies before me were able to accomplish the spark pug replacement. Take your time and grab a stubby socket wrench to make it a bit easier.

BTW, I know Haffenreffer, but I am guessing you can drink hefeweizen as well?

Be sure to pull off the engine shroud on the passenger side. The 30 minutes spent doing this will save you hours of frustration on the top side, #6.

Scott,

Is that the shroud that's in the wheel well? My lower engine cover was off before I bought the car.

Correct..... It is the thin metal piece that has the clutch vent hose routed through it.
There are 3 or 4 allen cap screws that mount it to the engine. They are a pain to get off, so spray them with a thread penetrant.

Rick,

It aint that bad. It "reads" a lot worse than it really is. Once you're done, you'll feel proud and accomplished! Enjoy
