It all depends on how much money you have available. YOU MUST DO EVERYTHING!

Welcome to Rennlist. There is no "list" per se, but just common mods we as enthusiasts do to our cars.

Although not what you were looking for, here is a list of to do's that often get overlooked.

1 Learn to use the search function. There is a wealth of knowledge in the past posts. You can literally spend hours, if not days, searching out information on specific problems or fixes.

2 Ask a question when you need an answer, but take the time to read your post before you click the "submit" button. A lot of problems with communication could be avoided if people would stop to reread their posts before they clicked that button.

3 Hang on to your wallet.... the slope is a slippery one.

4 Last, strongly consider becoming a Rennlist member to help support the community we have. John D, the website owner, spends a great deal of his time, effort and money to make things run as smooth as he can around here and I feel the amount one learns in relation to what the membership dues are makes for one of the greatest bargains of owning a Porsche.

Again, welcome to Rennlist. Hope to see you posting soon of that 993 you are chasing in your dreams... and pictures... we love pictures.

That is a great list for upgrades! I will work on that, but first I need to find the right 993!

I have several Land Rovers (D110, D90 and SII) and am active on LR forums and am very familiar with the search function. I was under the impression there was a "must do" list of major mainenance items on a 993 that one would want to make sure where done before considering purchasing it. Valve guides, wiring harness....I am sure there are others. This is what I was looking for.

Cheers!

A PPI and up to date maintenance records would be a good start..... After finding a 993.

I'd first, as Kelly said, get a Rennlist membership...the cheapest ($17) more valuable investment for your 993 experience, then...I'd post a "looking for a car thread" and if you are lucky, you'll find one among these enthusiasts here!!!

Good luck!

There is a good thread on this topic as well in the Pelican Technical board posted by our Rick Lee. Good luck.

My first mod was the SuperCup exhaust by Fabspeed. Awesome sound
Then the air intake changed to a cone filter kit.
Wheels and tires to 18" Turbo Twists
Escourt 8500 Radar
Suspension M003 and Bisteins and then changed to Eibach springs
Aluminum Strut brace from Vertex
Alpine stereo with MP3 for the Ipod
Short Shift
TechArt Wing
Wiring Harness Recall
The list is endless, the first thing to do though is start with a good car, then drive it and see what you feel it needs. Go to a few Club meets and check out other peoples cars.
Mobil1 15-50 oil
Save money for that unexpected repair!!!!!
$35000 in waxes and polishers, clay and all the other weird bottles of stuff to make it shine more~~
A garage to store all the waxes and cleaning stuff
A maid to wash the thousands of Microfibre cloths you use each week. Drive it! Chris

Tip #1 - do one mod at a time to gauge its effectiveness.

My advice, don't do any mods, once the first one is done it's not a slippery slope it's a cliff
  • RS clutch & flywheel
  • suspension to suit
  • RSRs and cat bypass
  • Rollbar
  • Raceseats/ harnesses
  • RS short shift
  • Guard asymmetric LSD
  • Short geared box
  • MPSC on 996 5 spokes
  • 993RS brakes
  • aggresssive lightening
  • RS or RS/CS aeropackage
