Default Help - Check Engine Fault Code P1115

Went to Auto Zone to have the fault code read when the Check Engine Caution Light came on.

The code was P1115 Fuel-Air Metering

What does this mean I should do? What is this fault?

Marv,

Here is a link os another rennlister that had the same code. It has to do with the catalytic converter O2 sensor.

P1115 = O2S Heater 1 Ahead of Catalytic Converter Cyl. 1-3

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=p1115

It could be a one time hicup. I would reset the CEL and see if it comes back. If it does, check the O2 sensor, and/or connections.

No big deal and no SAI issues as you previously thought.

P1115 - Oxygen Sensor heating side 1 ahead of Cat - below lower threshold

Generally this means a bad heating element in the O2 sensor. It can be other things that you do not want to know about. Remove and seperate the O2 connector in the engine compartment (the grey connector is for behind the cat, and the black one is before the cat). On the connector to the O2 sensor connect an ohmmeter to pins 1 & 2. Specified value is 1.8-2.5 ohms at 20 degrees celcius. Connect the ohmmeter to pin 1 and the 02 sensor housing. Specified value is infinity. Usually you will find too much resistance in the first reading indicating that it is bad.

It is also common to get both the P1115 and P1119 codes together (both O2 sides before cat). This is caused by one of the sensors going bad, but in a way that the ECM with its' diagnostics can not figure which one so both codes are generated.

Good info. Just two questions:

1) Which side (driver's or passenger's) will this O2 sensor be on?

2) Where do I find 20° C ambient temperature at this time of the year in Ohio?

Thanks,

Marv

1) Cylinder 1-3 = driver side.

2) 20C is about 68F. That should be about your garage temp in the middle of the day on fall weather. How cold is in Ohio now?
